Aerogel Granules, Exotic "Frozen Smoke" Insulator

Aerogel is an exotic substance that is produced using elements of nanotechnology.  It holds the world record as the least-dense material on Earth, and it weighs just three times that of an equal volume of air.  By volume, aerogel is 99.8% air.  The rest of the volume is composed of silicon dioxide.  Aerogel is an excellent insulator for heat and sound.  It is used by the space industry as an insulator because it absorbs all forms of energy transfer and has an very light weight.  NASA recently used aerogel to capture cometary particles in space (Stardust mission).

Aerogel is very expensive to produce and it is just now entering the civilian sector.  It resembles a hazy blue to clear substance and is commonly called "frozen smoke" because it resembles granules of solid smoke.

Refer to the photos.  You are purchasing a small scoop of approx. 24-32 granules of aerogel in a labeled gemjar.   The photos show a larger lot to give a better idea of what the granules look like.  The black centimeter cube is shown for scale and is not included.
