Dalgety Downs, Classic Australian L4 Chondrite, Endcut, 12g

Dalgety Downs meteorite fragments were first recovered from remote western Australia in 1941. Pieces were eventually analyzed and classified as a shocked L4 chondrite. Most of the recovered fragments came from an original 400+ kilogram mass, which makes it one of the largest known falls of an L4 chondrite. The matrix shows chondrules and metal flecks. This is a classic, early Australian meteorite that is well represented in most museum collections.

The specimen being offered here is a professionally prepared endcut with a polished face. It weighs 12 grams.
