Lake Wanapitei is an impact crater that is the remnant of a huge asteroid impact in the Eocene period, approximately 37 million years ago. The crater is located in modern-day Ontario Canada, not far from the older and larger Sudbury impact site. All that remains of the Wanapitei impactor are these pieces of breccia which contain a mixture of native rocks, impact-sourced materials, and trace elements.
