Libyan Desert Glass is an impactite from the Great Sand Sea in Libya and Egypt. Desert Glass (also called Sahara Glass) was created when a massive meteorite slammed into the Saharan Desert millions of years ago. It has been used since the time of the Pharaohs in making jewelry and adornments.
The specimen being offered here is an individual that has been wind sculpted. It is in excellent condition with just a tiny chip that is only noticeable on close inspection. It weighs 19 grams or approx. 94 carats.
