Lebanese amber is from the Lower Cretaceous period (130+ million years ago) and it is one of the oldest known ambers. Lebanese amber also contains the oldest known insect inclusions. At one time, the area that is now Lebanon was covered with pine forests. Now that region is war-torn and too dangerous to produce amber, so Lebanese specimens are extremely rare on the collector market.
