This lot of odd rocks was gathered at the beach.  Some were found in the water and others were found at the shoreline of a white sand beach.   The beach where these were gathered has no natural rocks, and what few native rocks exist are all limestone.  A few of these rocks are limestone, but several are obviously not from around here, so they have have been transported great distances, either by wave action or boats. This is a large adult Florida Crown Conch shell that is in pristine condition (Melongena Corona).  This is a mature adult with the beginnings of it's rear axial spikes.  When fully grown, this species is only about .5 inch longer than this example, and the rear spikes are more pronounced.  This is about as large as they get - almost 5 inches by 3 inches (125mm x 75mm).
